Dr. Kelly Shawn Maguire, D.C. is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, CA.  Palmer West is one of the top chiropractic colleges in the world and has a nationally known Sports Chiropractic Council that participates in athletic events such as the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey.   Additionally, Palmer West is the only Chiropractic College asked to participate in the IRON MAN triathlon in Hawaii treating athletes with preventive and urgent care.

Dr. Kelly is passionate about his career as a health, fitness and rehabilitation practitioner. He has been trained in the classic techniques of Chiropractic: Gonstead (taught by the late Dr. J. Larry Troxell D.C.), Upper Cervical and Cox’s Flexion/Distraction, drop table and Activator Method’s Certified (fall 07). The Doctor has also been trained in the latest soft tissue techniques; techniques that help breakdown muscle adhesions, freeing the soft tissue to stretch and contract normally. He also utilizes physiotherapy modalities: ultrasound and muscle stimulation to relax and heal injured muscle and ligaments.

Like most Santa Cruzan’s, Dr. Kelly is an outdoor enthusiast who can be seen surfing all over the county as well as cycling. His three loves are his wife, Dr. Serena Yazdani D.C., chiropractic, and a 1960 Cadillac that he is currently restoring.  Dr. Kelly is excited to join Dr. Smith at Surf City Chiropractic and the health community in Santa Cruz.
